Opera on Tap Goes National!
In keeping with our mission to bring opera to more people, we are actively seeking like-minded individuals and organizations to launch their own OOT chapter ANYWHERE in the country or world. In 2007, Opera on Tap's first Chapter, OOT New Orleans, had it's premiere performance at The Rusty Nail in downtown New Orleans. The show proved such a success that the Chapter, sponsored by New Orleans Opera, is expanding its performances in 2008 and 2009. They were a headlining event at the famed French Quarter Festival this past Spring. Click here to learn more about OOT NO.
Our Chapter program is designed to give anyone interested in starting a Chapter use of our trademark as well as a fully-detailed instructional manual on how to set up a Chapter and replicate our successful formula. Besides giving people in other regions of the country an opportunity to experience opera in a casual manner, our program gives a variety of opportunities to those who perform in them. An OOT singer from New Orleans has an open door to sing at any other Chapter's performances anywhere in the country. If the Chapter is successful in raising money for the OOT Scholarship program, that funding is reserved entirely for that Chapter's performers. We believe that nourishing the seeds of talent and cultural appreciation on a local level will be the most effective way for those creating and performing opera to maintain and further the progression of the art form they love. We invite anyone interested to contact us and learn more.
