Dominic Aquilino
Baritone Dominic M. Aquilino reprised the role of Marcello in La Boheme this past summer in Washington D.C. and again this December in New York City with Cantiamo Opera, as well as, returning to the role of Shaunard in La Boheme for the months of October and November with Dicapo Opera Theatre. Also this summer he portrayed the unctuous Kodaly in She Loves Me with Lyric Opera Cleveland to rave reviews.
Recently the singer returned to Ohio to make his debuts with Dayton Opera as both the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance and Marullo in Rigoletto, and Cincinnati Opera covering the roles of Don Giovanni, Escamillo in Carmen and the Loudspeaker in The Emperor of Atlantis, as well as being a featured Young Artist. Earlier that season Mr. Aquilino was a member of the very pestigious Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program.
The preceding summer, with Lyric Opera Cleveland, he made his debut in the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni to great acclaim.
Mr. Aquilino last portrayed Shaunard in La Boheme with Central City Opera, under the baton of Maestro John Moriarty. There he was also cover to Lord Mountjoy in the American Premiere of Benjamin Britten's Gloriana. The baritone also had the privilege to sing Dancairo, and cover Escamillo at Orlando Opera to Denyce Graves' Carmen, that same year.
Mr. Aquilino created the role of Jaffrey in the World Premiere Production of Scott Eyerly's The House of the Seven Gables in New York City and again portrays the villain on the opera's Albany Records release. Of his portrayal of this lago-like character Opera News said: "Dominic Aquilino conveys both the power and menace of Jaffrey- his outward righteousness and his interior villainy through purely vocal means."
Some of his other favorite operatic roles include Silvio in Pagliacci , Lescaut in Manon, Valentine in Faust, Count Robinson in Il Matrimonio Segreto, Dimitri in Richard Wargo's The Music Shop and Pavayokyasi in Henry Mollicone's Coyote Tales.
This coming summer Mr. Aquilino returns to Lyric Opera Cleveland to revisit his highly acclaimed Pirate King in the Pirates of Penzance.
Mr. Aquilino received his Masters of Music and Professional Studies from the Manhattan School of Music.
