Jessica Miller, Mezzo-Soprano, is one of the proud co-founders and co-managers of Opera on Tap!  She’s very excited about the future of OOT!  Ahh, how power corrupts!

Generally disenchanted with the conventional opera scene, Jessica is a champion of new works of classical vocal music and counts several world premiers among her credits. Christian McLeer’s Requiem is a particular favorite.   She just finished a series of performances with American Opera Projects presenting excerpts of new operas currently in development, including Stephen Schwartz’s first opera, Séance on a Wet Afternoon.

Jessica is also recently and happily married to Naren Rauch, composer/guitarist extraordinaire, so if you see the name “Jessica Rauch” it’s still her.  Keep an eye out for their first album due for release this Fall.

Jessica spent two seasons with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she had the usual mezzo experience of alternately cross-dressing, tarting herself up and aging drastically in such roles as Flora in Verd's La Traviata, Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen, Siebel in Gounod's Faust, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel by Humperdink, Lola in Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Mere Johanna in Poulenc's Dialogue of the Carmelites, Krista in The Makropulos Case by Janacek and many others including a mouse, a Blümenmädchen and the front half of a horse.

She has also performed with Opera National de Lyon, Opera Theater of St. Louis and Opera Company of Brooklyn, among others.  Jessica is returning to France this November for a series of concerts in Toulous and a run of performances of Verdi’s Falstaff in nearby Chartres with the New York Opera Society.

Jessica has a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, which was particularly f-ing expensive!
