Olga Shyp
Soprano Olga Shyp, a native of Odessa, Ukraine , graduated summa cum laude with a master's degree in music (opera and solo singing) from State Conservatory in 2001. Her extensive repertoire includes Despina, Cosi fan tutte; Adina, L'elesir d'amore; Norina, Don Pasquale; Violetta, Traviata; Gilda, Rigoletto; Silberklang, Der Schauspieldirektor; Lucie, The Telephone; Tonina, Primo la musica, poi le parole; Oksana, Zaporozhets beyond the Danube; La Chauve-Souris, L'enfant et les Sortiléges; the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's Snow Maiden and Marfa The Tsar’s Bride.
Olga Shyp has also committed herself to oratorio singing. Her concert repertoire includes Handel's Messiah, Brahms' Requiem, J.S. Bach's Magnificat, Johannes Passion and Matteus Passion. Ms. Shyp has performed in concert tours throughout Germany , Italy and Ukraine and appeared in a number of recitals and ensemble concerts in her home region.
Ms. Shyp is actively pursuing her singing career after relocating to the United States in 2003. A current New York resident, Olga Shyp has performed as a soloist with New York Choral Society, Synod Cathedral Choir, Buglisi/Foreman Dance Company and others.
