Carla Fisk

Carla Roberts originally from Memphis, TN began her vocal studies at the University of Memphis. She premiered as a Mezzo Soprano singing roles for the University such as Zita in Gianni Schicchi, Florence in Albert Herring, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. The decision to switch to soprano repertoire was imminent. She began singing with the role of Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel. Later while still in Memphis, she won third place in their Beethoven Competition and winning in the National Council Auditions District Competition and placing third in the National Council Auditions Regional Competition. She later sang in Rome, Italy the role of First Lady in Die Zauberflöte with Opera Festival di Roma. While there with the festival, she was chosen to sing on Italian National Television (RAI Uno), performing Hanna from Die Lustige Witwe. She then went on to be a part of the Baltimore Opera’s Young Artist Program singing the role of Beauty in Beauty and the Beast by Giannini (an Educational Outreach Opera) and performing the role of Despina in Cosi fan Tutte. They asked her back to sing the role of Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte directed by Werner Herzog and conducted by William Crutchfield with the main stage of Baltimore Opera. She has recently sung the role of the Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro with Operesque Company. This past fall she performed the title role of Suor Angelica with New York Opera Forum and one of the Cercatricci Sisters from Suor Angelica with Garden State Opera Theater. This Spring she made her debut with Amato Opera singing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In the summer of 2007, she will perform the role of Nedda with Como Opera in Mississippi.
