Sonja Srinivasan
OOT A2Y Artist
Emerging professional lyric soprano
Sonja Srinivasan (“the soprano musician”) is excited to be an
original member of OOT Ann Arbor. She has over a dozen years of
vocal studies, a quarter-century of violin experience, has served as
a conductor, and studied musicology. Sonja made her debut with the
Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor as Natasha in Katinka, and has
performed the lead role in scenes from Der Freischütz,
Carmen, Der Rosenkavalier, and Così fan Tutte
in summer programs. Sonja has also frequently performed in
recitals in San Diego. Upcoming performances include the role of
Rosalind Rafferty in Sally with the Comic Opera Guild of Ann
Arbor. She learned the role of Micaëla from Carmen, and is
currently learning Countess from Le Nozze di Figaro, and
welcomes opportunities to perform these roles. Other repertoire
interests include Mimì from La Bohème, and other roles and
works by Mozart, Strauss, and Handel. Sonja invites invitations to
perform new music, which she feels would be an exciting challenge to
her strong musicianship.
Sonja is a student of George Shirley,
Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan, and completed music
studies at Mannes College of Music, Columbia University, and the
University of California San Diego. In addition, she holds academic
degrees from Stanford and Columbia Universities. Sonja is incredibly
grateful for the unconditional support of her family and friends!
